Men's shorts manufacturer and retailer Chubbies receives USD4 million investment

Chubbies, an online maker and seller of men’s shorts, has taken in USD4 million round of funding, reported TechCrunch. The company has received new funds from among the largest names in both fashion and retail markets alike.

The investment round was led by Tory Burch’s co-founder Chris Burch and another investor through Burch Creative Capital. A hefty number of investors have also joined the funding including Ben Lerer, Brian Spaly, Blair Lambert and Vera Bradley. Venture firms including IDG Ventures and Rothenberg Ventures also joined the investment round.

Investors have been putting their money into markets that uses online marketing to make new brands for a new set of customers. Nasty Gal, Frank & Oak and Bonobos are among other companies that have received investments worth millions of dollars for their own clothing line.

Chubbies was launched in 2011 by four people who moved in San Francisco from Stanford in pursuit of private equity careers, venture capital, fashion and development in technology, said TechCrunch.
