German startup Toywheel wants to provide children with a toy that fuses both the physical and virtual world to create an interactive playground. The firm has launched its first app called Toy Car RC - Drive a Virtual Car in the Real World with Augmented Reality, wrote VentureBeat.

Founder Evgeni Kouris explained: "From our experience with the DIY platform we know, children want to discover interactive worlds in the same way as they learn about physical world. They don't differentiate here. That's why we want to link both realities into one big, intuitive playground. Current augmented reality technology is already quite powerful, but it evolves rapidly especially with new products like Google Glass."

Players of Toy Car RC must first print simple target using standard printers. These targets will then be positioned throughout the chosen play area. This is where the virtual car will pass through later on. Compared to other racing games with the goal of winning, Toywheel aims to develop creativity of children, the report detailed.

Toywheel is backed by several angel investors like Brendan Donovan. The Berlin-based startup's seed funding came from the first hy! Berlin Conference and the Telekom Accelorator hub:raum, VentureBeat reported.
