Rothschild is set to be named as the adviser for the potential structural break-up of the Royal Bank of Scotland. Rothschild was able to beat out the competition for the role of advisers, coming strong against other industry big-wigs like Bank of America Merrill Lynch and Deutsche Bank. As cited by people who are close to the situation, the official announcement is set to come out this week, naming Rothschild as the official adviser on the Royal Bank of Scotland split.

Rothschild is set to begin its study all of the details for the potential split of RBS immediately. Expected time of completion for the study will be in September.

Finance Minister George Osborne mentioned last month that he will take a close look if splitting RBS into a "good bank" and sourcing out its assets into "bad bank" will work out.

There are still no comments made by Rothschild and RBS regarding the issue.
