'Transformers 5' is a planned sequel to Michael Bay's 'Transformers: Age of Extinction'. It is unclear whether the director will return to helm the fifth installment in the series. Former lead actress Megan Fox expressed her openness to make cameos in future films since she and Bay are back on friendly working terms.

Megan Fox was embroiled in a seemingly one-sided firing/quitting scandal which led her to be replaced by Victoria's Secret model Rosie Huntington-Whiteley in the third film 'Transformers: Dark of the Moon'. It was previously reported that Fox was fired by Steven Spielberg and Michael Bay because of Fox's remark comparing Bay to Hitler. The 29-year old model-actress then told the media that she quit for other acting opportunities.

It seemed that the general public was left in the dark regarding what sparked Fox to say what she said. According to Moviepilot, Bay already had a history of harshness and lasciviousness when it came to handling his actors, specifically Fox who played Shia LaBeouf's love interest Mikaela Banes. It was reported that the young actress had a hard time filming the series and decided to leave for her own good.

Although details for 'Transformers 5' may be scarce as of the present, speculations of Fox's return have emerged. According to Cinema Blend, the aging franchise may need a familiar face to help sell it to the audiences once more and putting Fox back on may be the golden ticket. The actress did express her willingness to return even for a short cameo in future films, so the idea may not be entirely impossible especially with her back on amiable working terms with Bay.

According to io9.com, four more sequels in the science-fiction adventure franchise are underway. Stephen J. Davis of Hasbro announced that the 6th, 7th and 8th installments have already been planned in addition to the upcoming 5th. A group of writers, spearheaded by Akiva Goldsman, have been working together for a while now in hopes of mapping out the future of the 'Transformers' cinematic series.

'Transformers 5' is an upcoming film based on the characters created by toy company Hasbro. It is intended as a sequel to 2014's 'Transformers: Age of Extinction' starring Mark Wahlberg, Peter Cullen, Ken Watanabe, Stanley Tucci and Kelsey Grammer. The action-adventure film is scheduled for release in 2017.
