With Android 6.0 officially called Marshmallow, Google is now developing its new major features further. The new mobile operating system is said to roll out first on a few selected devices manufactured by Google, Samsung, HTC, and more.

However, Android Marshmallow won't be getting much of a UI revamp, so it would look pretty much like the colorful Material design theme used on Android 5.0 Lollipop. On the other hand, the developing team is more focused on improving system performance, the software's battery efficiency, as well as the new "Now on Tap".

Google first showed "Now on Tap" during its developers conference earlier this year. It basically pulls up additional details on top of whatever the user is doing, based on what's displayed on their screen. The feature has progressed significantly and is now coming with the much awaited mobile operating system update.

Aside from "Now on Tap", Android Marshmallow also includes the Android Pay. This app enables users to pay for purchases in participating stores using their smartphones with NFC chip. This also allows them to pay for purchases made on their mobile devices, making this platform a new effective payment system.

The app drawer has also received a new layout in Marshmallow as well. A search bar at the top was added for users to find their apps faster. Below that are the apps Google thinks you might want to use at the moment, based on time of day or your typical app-opening habits. The app drawer now scrolls up and down, instead of left and right, which is a bit of throwback to earlier Android versions.

Android 6.0 Marshmallow has already started to roll out on various devices, including the Google Nexus handsets, HTC smartphones, the latest models from Samsung, as well as several of Motorola's phones. LG hasn't officially announced its lineup of devices that will be getting the update, but the company is certain about applying the latest Android version on its devices.

Apart from the ones mentioned, there are other smartphone manufacturers who already have their roll out plans set for the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update. It's only a matter of when, but it's most certain that it would be any time soon.
