Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 Android 6.0 Marshmallow Official OTA Update Confirmed

Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 is confirmed to receive the Android 6.0 Marshmallow's official over-the-air (OTA) update as T-Mobile revealed a list including the said device among lucky recipients. The most exciting update in history will bring in a host of new features and enhancements.

Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 has been revealed on a track list of T-Mobile posted on its support page for the Android 6.0 Marshmallow software update. Despite other mobile carriers keeping mum about the rollout, the list proves that Android 6.0 Marshmallow is indeed coming to them very soon. With T-Mobile's official announcement, other networks like Verizon, Sprint, AT&T, US Cellular, Bell, and Vodafone are expected to follow suit.

On T-Mobile's track list, Galaxy Tab S2 is currently under "Manufacturer Development" stage wherein a carrier and the mobile maker have agreed to support the Android 6.0 Marshmallow software update. After this phase is the "Testing" wherein the device will go through the carrier's certification process testing to make sure users get the best quality software. Finally, "Complete" stage will come wherein the software has been approved to launch and is available already.

Although exact release date has not been announced, Marshmallow is slated to roll out to the device not later than December 2015.

Android 6.0 Marshmallow will offer key features and enhancements, allowing users to: (1) Exercise greater control over app permissions; (2) Purchase easily and securely with Fingerprint support and Android Pay; (3) Experience enhanced battery-life through Doze; and (4) Redesigned App Drawer.

Here's a list of Marshmallow's best-ever features:

1.     Apps Permissions. This feature provides users better control of the permissions of downloaded apps. Users are given the option to consent or reject permissions exclusively. It is significant to take note that Permissions are demanded the first time users try to use a feature, not at the point of installation.

2.     Fingerprint support. This gives device uniform support for fingerprint scanners devices running Marshmallow. Fingerprint functions to confirm purchases, unlock phones and purchase and shop in real-life or in the Play Store.

3.     Mobile payments. With Marshmallow, device supports American Express, Visa, Mastercard, and Discover. It also brings Google Pay.

4.     App drawer. This feature has an all-new design. It now scrolls vertically instead of horizontally against white background. It also shows four most recently used apps across the top of the menu.

5.     Power and charging. Android M expands device up to two times longer standby time using Doze. It makes use of motion detectors to control device when not in use. It also diminishes background processes, while begins alarms and informs users of priority notifications even when using Doze.

6.     Google Now. This feature becomes smarter. It knows different contexts, provides answers and helps users take action.

The Android 6.0 Marshmallow is currently rolling out to Galaxy Note 5, Galaxy Note 4, Galaxy S6 Edge+, Galaxy S6 Edge, and Galaxy S6 devices. Aside from Samsung, device manufacturers who have come up to terms with the carrier are Samsung, HTC and LG.
