A purported concept art for Avatar 2 which was supposedly released by producer Jon Landau was recently confirmed to be a hoax. Meanwhile, Michelle Rodriguez recently confirmed that she will not appear in the upcoming film despite previous reports that most of the cast will return in the sequel.

A photo was released recently of a Twitter user claiming to be the producer Jon Landau and was widely reported by different media outlets. The photo showed what was supposed to be a sketch of a Na'Vi character in the upcoming film.

However, Deadline confirmed that the Twitter account is in fact bogus and stated that the producer has actually been trying to have the account deleted from Twitter. As of writing, the fake Twitter account of the producer has been suspended on Twitter.

As reported by MNR Daily, the film will be a sequel to the hit 2009 film which gathered a large pool of followers, and grossed $2.8 billion in the box office. The film will see the return of Zoe Saldana as Neytiri and Sam Worthington as Jake Sully. Sigourney Weaver and Stephen Lang are also expected to return as well even though their characters were believed to have died in the previous film.

However, according to New York Post Michelle Rodrigues who played the role of Trudy Chacon in the first film will no longer appear in the sequel as the Furious 7 actress herself admitted that director James Cameron did not ask her to return to reprise her role.

They're bringing back a lot of other characters. I know [Sigourney Weaver's] coming back and the guy who played the bad guy, [Stephen Lang], is coming back", Rodriguez said. "But yeah, I'm not gonna be in it.", she added.

Plot details for Avatar 2 is currently under wraps, although, Cameron previously revealed that he already has his plans ready for the film until Avatar 5. Filming has not started for the sequel yet but it is believed to hit theaters worldwide some time in 2017.
