The third and last installment for the animated movie series, "How to Train your Dragon" might be featuring the saddest separation seen in the history of animated movies.

The most loved duo Hiccup and Toothless will be facing a painful breakup based on the storyline of Cressida Cowell's book series. Both of them will become leaders of their own tribe and unfortunately, they will be at war. It could be due to the villainous Drago's return for revenge.

Cowell's book begins with Hiccup hark back to back to the times when dragons were still around. Director Dean DeBlois confirmed that "How to Train Your Dragon 3" sequel's main plot will be based on the book's premise. "Why and could they come back and the mystery of what all that is will be saved for the actual story," DeBlois said.

The director also gave some clues about the story of the DreamWorks animated film which will also explore the mythology of dragons. The final chapter will reportedly undertake what was the fate of the dragons. It will provide perspective on their intelligence and other traits that was initially shown in the first two stories.

The most anticipated trilogy finale will however not be seen anytime soon. DeBlois stated that a 2016 release is a little too ambitious. He explained that these kinds of movies take three years to make and finish. Basing on this statement, "How to Train your Dragon 3" may come in 2017. However, a reported massive lay-off due to company restructuring at DreamWorks Animation, may push back the movie for a 2018 release.

Whilst the third movie is the last for the trilogy, the director DeBlois hinted that spinoffs may come and happen, but he is firm to say that: "...My involvement and dedication to completing a story that has a reason for being and a strong sense of integrity and three chapters I think is in place and intact."

Hiccup is voiced by Jay Baruchel. The cast who will reprise their roles composed of Cate Blanchett, Gerard Butler, Craig Ferguson, America Ferrera and Jonah Hill among others.
