When "The Vampire Diaries" returns for its Season 7, two new couples will be pushed to the forefront in the wake of Elena's departure. As any fan of the series will know, it wouldn't be a "The Vampire Diaries" love story if it isn't complicated.

Bonnie Bennett will find love with a still undisclosed character in the series. What is known for now is that he is someone the audience is already familiar with and that the mystery guy will be revealed on the fifth episode. Meanwhile, Stefan will try to win Caroline's heart.

In an interview with TV Line, Kat Graham, who plays Bonnie said that he could be anyone from Damon, Matt, Enzo or Alaric. She is excited for what the upcoming season can bring to its viewers in terms of her character's storyline. "It really surprised me who they ended up putting Bonnie with, but I was super stoked. It's someone that everyone knows and loves, so it's super fun."

IB Times reports that much to the disappointment of many fans, it will not be Damon that she will be dating since he will still be mourning for Elena. Graham reveals that she and Ian Somerhalder have in fact campaigned for their characters to be together but got shut down by the writers.

The same article reports that the most likely guy would be Alaric, Bonnie's former teacher. EP Julie Plec previously revealed that the two will spend more time together this season. Alaric had been dabbling in the occult in his desperate attempt to contact his dead wife. Bonnie took pity on him and decided to help him to reach out and contact his wife to make him move on.

Obviously, with Elena gone, the Salvatore brothers would have to move on to new relationships and this time, with different women after pining for the same woman in the past. Stefan has already shown his romantic interest toward Caroline in Season 6 and will apparently pursue this in the new season but not without a little resistance from Caroline.

Paul Wesley shared in Christian Post, "Caroline wants to be with Stefan, but she's also trying to do the right thing by herself, taking the time to mourn her mother's death so she can enter into this relationship with a clean state and a free mind."

Fans are looking forward to the storylines of the two budding relationships. Will they live up to the Damon/Elena or Stefan/Elena love stories? Season 7 of The Vampire Diaries will premiere on Oct. 8 on The CW.
