'Conjuring 2: The Enfield Poltergeist' just cast Simon McBurney and Frances O'Connor to join returning cast Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson. O'Connor is said to have a major role to play for the sequel. Director James Wan is set to begin production later this month.

According to Variety, Simon McBurney is the latest actor to join the cast for the upcoming horror film. The English actor is best known for his previous work on 'Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 1', 'Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation', 'The Theory of Everything', 'Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy', 'Robin Hood' and 'The Manchurian Candidate'. He is also founder and artistic director of the UK-based theatre company Complicite, which performs internationally.

Frances O'Connor was also confirmed to play the mother of a haunted child, according to another article by Cinema Blend. A woman named Margaret Hodgson was attached to the real-life case of the 'Enfield Poltergeist' and she may be O'Connor's character. Hodgson had two haunted daughters but reports made it seem like the distressed mother in 'Conjuring 2: The Enfield Poltergeist' will only have one haunted child.

James Wan is all set to return as director, producer and writer for the sequel. According to Coming Soon, he will begin production sometime later this month in Los Angeles. Wan is popular with the horror and thriller film genre, previously directing 'Insidious', 'Saw', 'Dead Silence', 'Death Sentence', and 'Furious 7'.

The first cinematic release was a critical and mainstream success. It earned generally positive reviews as well as $318 million against a $20 million budget, according to Box Office Mojo. This sealed its reputation as one of the highest-grossing horror films of all time.

'Conjuring 2: The Enfield Poltergeist' is an upcoming horror film set to be released on June 10, 2016. It will be the third installment in the series, counting 'Annabelle' as a spin-off. Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson will reprise their roles as famous paranormal investigators Lorraine and Ed Warren, whose horrifying cases have inspired the entire series.
