"Krampus" is a spectacular hell-raising Christmas movie directed by Michael Dougherty which tells of a mythical creature that comes before Christmas Eve to punish children who have been naughty. The first trailer has been released and now fans have a chance for a sneak peek of what's to come for those who have not been good this December 4.

Wired shares the details of the film which stars Emjay Anthony, Adam Scott, Allison Tolman and Toni Collette. "Krampus" is a movie taken from German folklore, about a demon who is the opposite of what Santa Claus does to the children. He is a gift-taker of naughty children. The presents he has taken are then sent to his den in the underworld where he devours them for his Christmas dinner.

IBTimes gave detailed facts on the creature that wreaks havoc before Santa Claus comes to visit. "Krampus" is a Greek and Germanic mythical being in which his name stems from the word "krampen" meaning "claw." He is half-man, half-goat and is decked out with a bunch of birch sticks on his back. The birch sticks are what he uses to whip children who have been naughty. He also has many names such as Perchten, Certa, Klaubauf, Schmutzli, Knecht, Black Peter, Rupercht and Pelznickel. German mythodology shows that he is older than Jesus Christ and was there even before Christianity was born. He has a night of his own that is completely separate from the day that Santa Claus visits the children. That date is December 6. Coincidentally, it is also the same date as St. Nicholas Day. In most places in Germany, children would either leave a boot out or a shoe. Children would know if they have been good by finding a present in their shoe. But if they find a rod, it would only mean one thing: they were naughty.

According to Den of Geek, "Krampus" tells the story of a boy named Max who despises Christmas because his family often fight during the holidays. Unknowingly, he draws the presence of the mythical creature in the process. A snowstorm occurs and in the middle of it, the electricity goes out. Trapped under one roof, the yuletide ghoul appears and terrorizes the whole family. Differences are soon forgotten as Max, along with other members of his family, have to stick together for a battle of survival.

December 4, 2015 will surely be a hair-raising, get-together for the whole family as "Krampus" lands in theaters.
