England may be getting a new King and Queen soon, and it's not who most people are expecting. Queen Elizabeth is planning to make history again by stepping down from the thrown, skipping the first heir, son Prince Charles, and passing it on to her grandson, Prince William and wife Kate Middleton.

According to Ok Magazine, after being the longest reining British monarch in history, Queen Elizabeth II is willing to step down from the thrown and pass it on to grandson Prince William and his wife, the Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton. Though the Queen's son, Prince Charles is the rightful one next in line, but the Queen believes that it would be for the best to hand the responsibility to the 33-year-old couple.

Hollywood Life  reported that the rumors had been speculating throughout the royal grounds for a while now regarding Queen Elizabeth's decisions. However, sources claim that both Prince William and the Duchess were not expecting it to happen. According to a palace insider, after hearing the news the couple we're stunned, and the first thing Kate Middleton did was ring her parents and inform them.

In a report from Celebrity Dirty Laundry, the Queen had to first confront Prince Charles, the rightful heir to the throne, before she reportedly made the decision. According to reports, Prince Charles was not at all happy after hearing the news, and neither was his wife, Camilla Parker- Bowles. But despite his negative first reaction, Prince Charles understood his mother's point of view and also believed that it will be in the best of interest of the monarchy and the country.

Though no official statement has been made yet, sources have it that the big coronation could take place in April 2016, after Queen Elizabeth's 90th birthday celebration. The ceremony has also been said to take place at Westminster Abbey, the same London church where Prince William and Kate Middleton got married in 2011.
