The DC Comics Universe is continually expanding and the Batman has been a constant force for the superhero films. With talks of a Batman standalone movie starring Ben Affleck, fans also wish to see other related characters join The Caped Crusader, most especially Robin. Along with this, Tom Hardy says that he would be eager to come back as Bane.

According to Movie Pilot, it's about time the Batman's beloved sidekick Robin made an appearance. Robin was last seen in Batman and Robin (1997). Whether it's Dick Grayson, Jason Todd or Tim Drake (or maybe even the later incarnations of this character) will be seen on how the current DC Cinematic universe will play out.

Robin may be Nightwing in the adaptation. Further, Talia Al Ghul, Red Hood, Black Mask and Deathstroke also made the list.

Another character that rose in prominence in the Bat realm is Bane, played by Tom Hardy. According to the Entertainment Weekly, Hardy said in an interview with MTV that he would love to return to DC Comics Universe, saying , "Of course, I'm Bane."

He also mentioned that he was asked a question on whether its Superman or Batman he wants to "win out in a fight." To which the 37-year-old actor responded "I would like to hold the pair of them under the water until the bubbles stop."

However, as reported in Comic Book, Christopher Nolan's Batman trilogy is not connected to the DC Extended Universe, where the current Batman exists. With the DCEU planning to make Ben Affleck's version its own Batman cornerstone in future movies, Hardy's Bane would very much feel like a crossover.

Plans are largely still up in the air and Zack Snyder also mentioned the difficulty of surpassing Nolan's The Dark Knight, which set the tone for the DC Comics films. Ben Affleck's Batman standalone movie (or trilogy) will have a long way to come, slated to be released before 2020. At the very least it will be after his appearance in Batman V Superman (2016), Suicide Squad (2016) and Justice League (part 1 in 2017 and part 2 in 2019). However, fans are still eager for any news of Robin or other characters joining in the Bat's feature film, or if Tom Hardy can actually come back as Bane.
