Red Dead Redemption 2 is one of the most talked about upcoming games from renowned GTA 5 developer Rockstar Games following the massive success of the first game in 2010. While there's an absence of official news from developers pertaining to its release details, here's a round-up of leaks and rumors that have continued to swirl online.

2016 Release Date

As reported, Take-Two Interactive has officially confirmed that an AAA project will be launched in 2016 which sparked rumors that it could be Rockstar Games' long-awaited Red Dead Redemption sequel

This news was announced during Take-Two's quarterly earnings call where president Karl Slatoff tackled the company's future fiscal year plans including a line of projects in development, Venture Beat wrote.

Take-Two's future titles include Mafia 3, XCOM 2, andBattleborn which have all been confirmed, however, these are not big scale games which require the biggest budget for development, level of production, and highest potential to be a phenomenal hit of the year.

GTA 5 leakster and YouTube user MrBossFTW also shared the fact about history of Rockstar Games releasing one large scale title every year since 2002. He added that if this pattern will be followed, then a 2016 release date will be plausible for Red Dead Redemption 2 following the latest installment of the GTA franchise.

Revamped Multiplayer Features

Rockstar Games is claimed to be working on a new open world project that will integrate a revamped multiplayer feature which is hinted when the developer's San Diego Studios posted a new job listing for a networking programmer position.

The candidate is required to have a wide specialization skills on gameplay mechanics for an open world title and will be responsible for the dynamic multiplayer integration into all areas of gameplay in a complex world environment.

The job post specifically reads that the candidate must be capable in 'creating the illusion of densely populated worlds' and 'enhancing existing graphics technologies to help achieve state-of-the-art visuals,' Express Co.UK reported.

Gang Mode

Latino Post noted that one of the major features to be seen in the sequel is the new gang mode that will allow players to be part of a gang or the side of the law enforcement team. According to the leak, this system will enable gamers to invite up to eight friends into the posse to complete challenging missions.

Title, Characters, and Setting

The former Rockstar employee leaked that the previous game's protagonist, John Marston, will not appear in the next RDR game. He will be replaced by three characters- Irish, Seth and a customizable character similar to that in GTA 5.

The game is set twelve years before the events of Red Dead Redemption and will be entitled, 'Legends of the West'.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is the highly anticipated sequel to Red Dead Redemption, an open-world action adventure game themed on the Wild West of 20th Century and followed Red Dead Revolver which was released in 2004. That game was dubbed as one of the best 3rd person shooter games released for Xbox 360 and PS3 consoles praised for gameplay, animation, story lines, characters and mechanics features.
