"The Vampire Diaries" Season 7 will reportedly show a wilder side of Damon after he lost Elena. According to executive producer Julie Plec, Damon will be in more trouble because Elena won't be there to guide him anymore.

International Business Time shared that in the season 6 finale, Elena was cursed and has to sleep for decades. Until Elena wakes up, Damon would be figuring out what he will do with this life. Plec shared that Damon will come face to face with the biggest roadblock since Elena will be in a six to seven decades of coma.

Plec added, "But there's something beautiful in the poetry of that. Damon's wild spirit and having to keep himself tame to wait for the girl -- which of course that [wild spirit] is the Damon we met in season one - he was waiting for the girl."

This is the same as the statement of Ian Somerhalder, the actor who plays the role of Damon, when he shared that Season 7 will be going back to the simple type of storytelling wherein the plot is dark, funny, and sexy. However, Damon being a bad boy again for season 7 as he will be getting into murderous trouble, Plec teased.

Speaking of murder, Enstarz shared that "The Vampire Diaries" Season 7 might feature Damon butting heads with the heretic family of his mother, Lily. Plec pointed out that the Heretics fight for each other and against each other so they don't have any regard whether or not the people they hurt are family. The new characters will not immediately be killed off by Damon in Season 7 as they are expected to be a mainstay.

Meanwhile, Christian Post shared that Caroline and Stefan will have a deeper relationship and it is possible that it is in a romantic sense.

"The Vampire Diaries" will be coming back on The CW on October 8.
