The Marvel Cinematic Universe is set to show its mystic side in the upcoming Doctor Strange. Benedict Cumberbatch is set to don the titular hero's costume which highly resembles that of in the comics, and Director of Photography revealed that the upcoming film will be dark and psychedelic.

Fans can expect Doctor Strange to be different than other Marvel films as Ben Davis, who is attached as its Director of Photography, revealed that it will be dark and psychedelic and could be "Marvel's Fantasia", as reported by The Guardian.

"DPs [directors of photography] always love the word 'dark'. The trouble is that most producers don't like dark." Davis said. "I described it as Marvel's Fantasia because it's so out there and different to everything else that they've done," he added.

Although Davis described his vision as dark and psychedelic, the upcoming film will follow most details from the comics, including the titular hero's costume. According to Comicbook.com, a concept art for Doctor Strange was released during Marvel's presentation at the D23 Expo, and it showed the titular character's costume  as very similar to his costume in the comics with the red cape and blue suit.

The upcoming movie will center on Stephen Strange, an arrogant neurosurgeon who later loses the function of his hands during a car accident. In attempts to heal himself, he learns magic with The Ancient One as his mentor. He later becomes the "Sorcerer Supreme" and saves the Earth from the evil mystic creatures that aspire to destroy it.

Benedict Cumberbatch is set to play the titular role and during the D23 Expo, Cumberbatch said that the film will include,  "Girls, cars, explosions, and astral projections into multiple universes - the usual fare".

Aside from Cumberbatch, Tinda Swinton is also on board to play the role of The Ancient One, while Chiwetel Ejiofor is set to play Strange's nemesis, Baron Mordo. According to Digital Spy, Rachel McAdams is also in talks for a lead female role.

Filming for Doctor Strange is set to begin in London, this November, with Scott Derickson on board to direct from the script written by Thomas Dean Donnelly, Joshua Oppenheimer, and Jon Spaihts. It is set to hit theaters on November 04, 2016.
