'Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them' Update: Filming for the 'Harry Potter' Spin-off starring Eddie Redmayne has begun

The spin-off to the phenomenal "Harry Potter" series, "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them," starring Academy Award winner Eddie Redmayne has commenced filming, Warner Bros. announced last Monday.

Entertainment Weekly reported that the movie is currently being shot at Warner Bros. Studios in Leavesden, England, the location where all of the eight "Harry Potter" films were made.

Directed by David Yates, the man behind the last four "Potter" movies, and scribed by the author J.K. Rowling herself, the movie is set more than 70 years before the "Harry Potter" stories actually happened, according to Dan of Geek.

The story follows the life of Newt Scamander, to be played by Redmayne, a brilliant magizoologist in the wizarding world, who is travelling in order to find and document magical creatures. "The Theory of Everything" star will be joined by Katherine Waterston from "Inherent Vice" as his Scamander's wife, Tina, and Alison Sudol from "Transparent" as her sister.

Ezra Miller, after his rise to stardome in "The Perks of Being a Wallflower," will star as Credence. Comingsoon.net also reported that Collin Farrell will star as Graves. "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them" is produced by author J.K. Rowling, Steve Kloves, Lionel Wigram, and David Heyman, one of the creators of all the eight "Harry Potter" films.

Behind the scenes, Comingsoon.net also reported that Yates will be working with Oscar-winning director of photography Philippe Rousselot  from "A River Runs Through It" and the "Sherlock Holmes" movies, three-time Oscar-winning production designer Stuart Craig from "The English Patient."and "Gandhi, and three-time Oscar-winning costume designer Colleen Atwood from "Chicago."

Oscar-nominated visual effects supervisor Christian Manz  and editor Mark Day will work on the post-production. Craig, Burke, Manz, and Day have previously worked in the eight original "Harry Potter" movies.

Potterheads will once again celebrate in the big screen as the "Harry Potter" spin-off "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them" will make a debut on Nov. 18, 2016.
