Emily is now taking the center stage in Dishonored 2.  Arkane Studios, the developer of the stealth action-adventure game, revealed this during the Bethesda E3 2015.  In the previous game, Emily Kaldwin was just a minor assassin; but now, she will be the main character as "her role is essential in the Dishonored."

This, and other revelations about the new protagonist and why the story is set 15 years after the events in Dishonored.  Players had a peek at her story in the first game.  As stated in the Christian Post, Emily was raised by Corvo when she was just 10 years old.

At that young age, Emily saw with her very eyes how her mother, the Empress, was killed.  Then on, Corvo took care of her and treated her as her own daughter.  This angle, that she might really be Corvo's daughter took a toll when it was revealed later on that he happens to be her mother's lover.

When asked why they had chosen Emily and pushed her story for Dishonored 2, Arkane's Harvey Smith shared as picked up by VG 24/7:  "There's something kind of magical about Emily for us and the game. As soon as we finished Dishonored 1 we began talking about how what we really felt energy about was continuing Emily's story. What kind of person would she grow up to be, what kind of empress would she be. As you find out in the game, what kind of outlaw would she be."

Players will be seeing Emily as a 25-year-old adept assassin in Dishonored 2.  No longer a privileged girl, she now takes the same road as her mentor Corvo.  According to Cinema Blend, when choosing to play as Emily, players get a different set of powers.

"She will have the 'Far Reach' power that allows her to use a tentacle to grab onto things such as ledges. She may also use her power to climb walls. Emily will also have an ability referred to as 'Shadow Walk' but details ability have not yet been unveiled."

But Corvo fans should take heart.  They can still choose him to be the protagonist in Dishonored 2.  Players just now have the option:  to either be Emily or Corvo in the game.

Dishonored 2 is expected to arrive in PS4, Xbox One, and PC platforms sometime in mid-2016.
