‘Law & Order: SVU’ Season 17 premieres with Robert Durst case; Amanda Rollins’ obsession

'Law & Order: SVU' season 17 premieres this fall with a bang. It opens with a familiar case of Robert Durst, who is a wealthy New Yorker becomes the suspect of multiple murders. Aside from this, the upcoming season will also feature a case about transgenders-- an issue which Amanda Rollins will get completely obsessed with.

Despite the leaving and the returning of characters, one of the best and a veteran television series in the US returns this September 23, 2015. It is expected to be explosive as it opens.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, 'Law & Order: SVU' season 17 will air its premiere episode focusing on the case of the alleged killer Robert Durst, who was at the center of the six-part HBO documentary "The Jinx: The Life & Deaths of Robert Durst".

As seen in the promotional video, Special Victims Unit team finds nine dead bodies in black trash bags on the shore of a local beach. It also showed Sergeant Olivia Benson telling her team that they weren't "trusting" their judgment enough.

"This is the one America will be talking about," the promo promises. "Again."

Chron has also released the plot details of 'Law & Order: SVU' season 17 premiere episode: "The Law & Order gang tries to build a case against an eccentric New York billionaire who they believe has committed a series of murders. An audio confession and an ocean's worth of body parts on garbage bags are their only evidence."

Meanwhile, the promotional video also featured the serial killer Greg Yates, played by Dallas Roberts. Yates was last seen in prison, after being convicted of murder after he kidnapped and murdered "Chicago PD's" Nadia Decotis.

On the other report, actress Kelli Giddish, who plays Detective Amanda Rollins, teased on EOnline that the 'Law & Order' season 17 will feature a case about transgenders. She added that viewers could see Rollins' obsession over the case.
