Swiss distributor Ascot Elite has officially announced that it is going to host the action-thriller sequel, "John Wick 2."

Screen Daily has reported that Ascot bought the rights to the movie from its regular partner Lionsgate/Summit. Previously, it was already confirmed that Keanu Reeves is still the lead while directors David Leitch and Chad Stahelski  as well writer Derek Kolstad are still on board the next installment. However, whether the plot is still on the story board or if it is finalized with the screenplay is yet to be confirmed.

In a previous interview with Movies.com, Stahelski said, "We're in development right now."

Stahelski said, "It's the matter of story and how much you like the character. That's always the most important. If there's great action but you have a character that no one likes and doesn't have charisma you're not going to watch it."

The director also mentioned in the interview that they are making sure that the story is carefully weaved in order to showcase a whole new "awesome" epic.

Leitch mentioned that the lead (hopefully Keanu) will be able to deliver, like how Harrison Ford or Liam Neeson did in their action movies. "So we want to make sure we have a story and a character that everybody loves and then we'll dress it with action that we promise will be awesome." You gotta go on a journey with the guy and have to like the guy."

According to Inverse, the plot can focus on one vital character and setting in the first movie: the Continental Hotel. The hotel can possible open new heroes or assassins, or even strictly implement is presumably "no dogs policy."

The first film released last October 2014 made a killing in the box office with $78.7 million that calls for John Wick 2 release.
