Unlike the previous seasons, 'Person of Interest' season 5 got a 13 episode order, which was quite unexpected. Co-showrunner Greg Plageman gave hint that the next season may be the end of the series. And how the fourth season ended, it seems like Lionel Fusco will now find out the elusive, Machine.

Going from 22 episodes to 13 is very unexpected and disappointing for a great show like 'Point of Interest'. Although the 5th season may only have a few episodes but the cast and crew who attended at the San Diego Comic Con earlier this month all said that the drama will be heightened.

This may be good to hear but speculations rise that the 'Person of Interest' season 5 may be the last of the series, after all, 13 episodes will be a great send off for the series. The panel at the Comic Con does not even know what lies ahead for this CBS series, but everyone is hopeful to have more seasons other than 5.

Co-showrunner Greg Plageman talked to Zap2it to answer the speculation about the last of the series. He said that the fate of 'Person of Interest' is up to the network. If the 'Person of Interest' cancellation may after the 5th, fans must still hope because "There's so many shows where there's another life even in another outlet. Never say never."

Having a shorter season has also its advantage. He promises that there is "no filler this year." And viewers should expect enough changes for this show setting up for the possible last of the series. But the co-showrunner pointed out that every season feels like the end of the series, like they always do.

"I think every season we make a season finale that could be a series finale. We're not going to do anything different this time. The only thing is a couple of big story points that we wanted to land are going to be pushed up a little."

Meanwhile, Plageman also dropped some spoilers for 'Person of Interest' season 5. Given the events happened last season, Lionel Fusco may finally discover the Machine and the secret mission of Finch, Reese and Root.

"I think it's time that Chappy got read in, the Fusco got read in," Plageman says. "Given the circumstance of where we ended up in the finale, where he was involved in the t-bone accident where Dominic and Elias were both shot, there's going to be a lot of questions for Detective Fusco. When the heat starts turning on him, then he's going to start to ask his own questions and want to know what's going on."
