'Underworld 5' is the latest film in the action-horror series involving vampires, werewolves and the fight between the two clans. It is confirmed for filming this fall with actors Kate Beckinsale and Theo James joining the cast to reprise their roles as vampire allies.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, filming for the fifth installment of the vampire movie franchise will begin in Prague this October. Actress and Hollywood icon Kate Beckinsale is said to reprise her role as Selene, the series' primary protagonist. Several additions for the latest film's creative team have also been tagged.

Anna Foerster, who worked in films such as 'The Day After Tomorrow', 'Aeon Flux', and '10,000 BC', is set to direct the movie making her the first female director to take over for the series. Although the plot remains unconfirmed at present, the new film is called 'Underworld: Next Generation' at some point.

Cory Goodman of 'The Last Witch Hunter' is in charge of the script that was said to focus on a younger and newer generation of opposing vampires and lycans caught in a relentlessly never ending battle.

'Divergent' star Theo James, who briefly appeared in the 2012 release 'Underworld: Awakening' is also said to return as the David - Selene's vampire ally. According to Screen Rant, David may lead the new film with the addition of two female characters. The article stressed that whoever will be cast in these new roles would probably determine the future success of the follow-up.

An article by Cinema Blend reiterated James' character as a potential main protagonist stating that he would most likely play a key role in reigniting the feud between vampires and werewolves. He would seek revenge against the destruction of his coven.

'Underworld 5' details may still be kept under wraps at present but from the sound of it, audiences may be in for another thrilling follow-up to the vampires vs. lycans saga. The past four films may have received generally negative reviews but they performed relatively well and gained a loyal following.

The series spawned 'Underworld' in 2003, followed by 'Underworld: Evolution' in 2006, then 'Underworld: Rise of the Lycans' in 2009, and finally 'Underworld: Awakening' in 2012. There are also talks of a sixth movie following the release of 'Underworld 5 with Beckinsale returning as well.
