Transformers 5 is still on its early stages of production but rumors have surfaced online as to the possible characters to appear in the movie. Director Michael Bay is said to return, along with Mark Wahlberg.

It seems like big plans are brewing for the Transformers franchise as rumors have been swirling that the story is now being crafted for potential spinoffs and crossovers. As of now, screenwriter Akiva Goldsman along with other writers have been hired and are tasked to expand the world of the Transformers' universe.

"There are good rooms around town, including the Monsters Room at Universal, the Star Wars room, and of course, at Marvel. We're trying to beg, borrow and steal from the best of them, and gathered a group of folks interested in developing and broadening this franchise." Goldsman previously said.

However, the movie might not come out anytime soon as it had been slated for a 2017 release. The movie's release date is said to have been pushed back so as to avoid competing against Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2, which is also under Paramount, and is set to be released in June 3, 2016.

Meanwhile, reports suggest that the movie might include Ultra Magnus and Quintessons. In the previous film, Optimus Prime was seen going on a search for the Ancient Ones. Rumors have now surfaced that the movie's story now stick to the franchise lore where the ancient and dark race of Quintessons will be included with their dark past contain ties with the history of the Transformers.

On the other hand, Ultra Magnus is also rumored to appear in the movie. In the comics, Ultra Magnus served as the second in command next to Optimus Prime, and is expected to take charge during Optimus Prime's absence.

The movie is also said to feature the return of Mark Wahlberg's Cade Yeager, while Michael Bay is also rumored to return to direct the film, although he had already previously said that he might no longer comeback for the sequel.

No exact release date has been released for the film yet. Transformers 5 will be produced by Akiva Goldsman, Don Murphy while Michael Bay is the executive producer along with Tom DeSanto, and Steven Spielberg. More details about the movie are expected to be released in the coming months.
