Microsoft have really changed the way we see the world, as they have started the holographic computing with Microsoft HoloLens. HoloLens has the potential to change the future of computing as we use it. Recently, Microsoft revealed the prototype plans of HoloLens along with the anouncement of its Windows 10 software. The classification of Microsoft HoloLens would fall into the category of AR (Augmented Reality) device. The headset itself is a self -supporting device and it can be used independently of all other devices.

It is said at the launch that the Microsoft HoloLens will be a new medium to express your creativity, an efficient and more effective way to teach, learn, and visualize and share user's ideas with others. In addition, it would bring forth a new holographic platform with its innovative and powerful specs.

"Microsoft HoloLens understands your movements, vision, and voice, enabling you to interact with content and information in the most natural way possible." - Microsoft

What is Microsoft HoloLens? It is a headset that is powered with sensors that allow user to view virtual structures that does not actually exist in the physical area. Though Hololens is not the first augmented reality headset because Facebook and Sony is also having their way to augmented reality, we could predict this would be the start of AR (augmented reality) generation.

The Microsoft HoloLens will feature 1080p colour cameras, 120x120 depth, and microphones for voice commands. With its accelerometer, magnetometer, and gyroscope combined to 1080p colour cameras and 120x120 depth, it will turn the HoloLens holographic processing unit (HPU) to create 3D holographs on the device's display. The HPU is rumoured to be engined with Intel's upcoming Cherry Trail chipset, and possibly support wireless charging.

If you are familiar with the anime Sword Art Online, you would probably imagine that the NerveGear will soon to be available for real because of this augmented reality headset. It would bring you closer to the Virtual Reality world like Accel World.

At this time, there is no official release date nor official pricing. As Microsoft said that the Microsoft HoloLens will start shipping during the Windows 10 timeframe, probably it will be released and available by next year, 2016.
