With an additional cast and some gradual developments, "Assassin's Creed" is ready to start production in September. The video game-adapted movie will be shown in theatres before Christmas.

Movie Pilot reports that "Assassin's Creed" will start filming during the start of the fall season in September. "Assassin's Creed", which will be a fictional historical drama, will be adapted from Ubisoft's game series of the same name which has sold more than 91 million units.

Originally, the movie's release was May 22 of this year, reports Christian Today. It was moved to August 7. However, since production has not commenced yet, it was postponed to the later part of next year.

One of the recent additions to the cast is French actress Ariane Labed who starred in "The Lobster". The reason why Labed replaced the role that was supposed to be Swedish actress Alicia Vikander's was because of the latter's tight schedule. Details on Labed's role however has not been revealed yet.

Label rose to fame in Europe after receiving a Best Actress award in Venice in 2010 for "Attenberg". She also got the Locarno Best Actress Award last year for "Fidelio, Alice's Journey", a French drama.

Labed joins lead stars Michael Fassbender and Marion Cotillard in the movie. In a report of Coming Soon, Fassbender admits that the movie is something new to him. He asks for viewers' patience saying that it takes a long time for a good movie to be worked on, emphasizing that they want to do it right.

"That's always the challenge of something that's so dense, to really find something and pare it down and, basically, there are so many elements to it. Trying to translate that to an audience, you have to pick key things. [P]art of it is getting through the density of it and paring down and engaging a simple story," he said.

"Assassin's Creed" plays on theatres on December 21, 2016.
