A sequel for 2014 movie, 23 Jump Street is underway and a crossover to the Men in Black world is expected for Jenko and Schmidt. Also, a female spin off of the movie is expected as writers have been hired for the movie.

Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill will be back to reprise their roles as Jenko and Schmidt, and will be tracking down criminal aliens in 23 Jump Street's cross over with the Men in Black world. Having said that, many are hoping that Men in Black stars Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones or Josh Brolin will make an appearance and reprise their characters. But sadly, according to reports, it seems quite impossible given Jones alleged lack of presence in the Men in Black III, and Smith's refusal to reprise his role for the sequel of the 1996 film, Independence Day.

Aside from Tatum and Hill, Sasha Clements is also reportedly on board to reprise her role as Ashley. The idea of 23 Jump Street and Men in Black worlds crossing will reportedly be a spoof of the latest Hollywood trend of 'cinematic universes'. Fans of the franchise are also hoping that the upcoming film will get an R rating so Tatum and Hill's Jenko and Schmidt characters can continue their mischievous antics.

22 Jump Street writer, Rodney Rothman will also be back to write the script of the upcoming sequel. Phil Lord and Christopher Miller will produce the film, along with Neal Moritz, Tatum, and Jonah.

Meanwhile, Sony is also reportedly planning on creating a female spin-off for the movie, which will probably be about two young female cops investigating a criminal case at a high school.

Broad City's Lucia Aniello and Paul Downs will write for the said spin off.

More details about the film are expected to be revealed soon. 23 Jump Street is said to be released some time in 2016.
