Half Life 3 may take more than just a year to see the light of day but the wait will certainly be worth it because the game may make it to virtual reality. Right now, Valve is currently experimenting with the Vive virtual reality Headset with help from hardware manufacturer HTC and they are using some elements from Half Life 2.

Even if Half Life 3 did not show up at E3 2015, Half Life fans were still hopeful that the series will get another installment. This hope was strengthened when a website popped up claiming that the game was finally coming as reported by Master Herald. The website looked similar to Valve's website and fooled a lot of fans. The site was taken down and it had a reply from Valve. Fans felt invigorated by the reply which stated: "Maybe Next Year". However, it looks like fans will have to wait a few more years because Valve is still busy with several projects. One of these is the Vive VR Headset in cooperation with HTC according to Kotaku.

Last March, Valve presented a demo of the Vive VR Headset at the Game Developers Conference. They were asked if Half Life 3 could show up in virtual reality. Their reply was "We're not saying no". Valve is currently looking into the different gaming possibilities with the Vive VR Headset and using some game elements from the Half Life series. It would definitely be a good idea for Valve to make the debut of the Vive VR Headset using Half Life 3 according to Cheat Sheet.

Aside from that, even if Valve just released the Source 2 game engine last year, it is also possible that the next game engine, Source 3, will be used as the game engine for Half Life 3. This game engine may not come out until 2024 but if Half Life 3 is also being developed alongside it, an amazing Half Life 3 is guaranteed.

Half Life is a series of first person shooter games developed by Valve Corporation for the PC, Xbox 360, and other consoles. The release date of the game has not yet been announced.
