The fourth installment of the hit superhero film "Iron Man" could as well be possible as it was recently reported that the director of the third film Shane Black has hinted about Robert Downey Jr.'s possible comeback as Tony Stark. In addition, RDJ has made the slightest confirmation for the "Iron Man 4" in an interview with Ellen DeGeneres.

With the global success of the "Iron Man 3," a sequel might be in a secret development by Marvel Studios. In a report by Unleash The Fan Boy (via Latino Post), the director of the third film Shane Black has dropped a cue and assured everyone on Robert Downey Jr.'s possible return for a sequel.

"I think he'll be back for another one. I'm sure of it," said the director. It is believed that "Iron Man 4" may happen after the Phase 3 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Master Herald cites. According to the website, the reason why it has been on stalemate for so long is because Marvel still contemplates the budget of the film since RDJ has demanded a raise in pay after the success of the third movie.

Downey was reportedly paid $50 million for the 2012's "Avengers" including bonuses and compensation due to the flick's international success. The same was also given to the actor for the "Iron Man 3." With the demand of his role as Tony Stark, the actor has sought a higher pay, causing the negotiations to be on hold. Marvel Studios has also a reason to shelve the sequel for a while and focus on its current projects.

In a TV guesting with "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" last year, the actor has somewhat confirmed that the fourth installment is still on the go, ComingSoon.Net states. DeGeneres had asked RDJ about the possibility of him returning for another movie, to which he made the slightest affirmation.

"I know there's going to be a bunch more Marvel movies," said the actor. "And they have big ideas of how to do it best and we're in the middle of negotiation ..." DeGeneres quickly prompted, "So, yes?" steering RDJ to reply "Okay, yes!"

The confirmation is somehow antiquated knowing the actor still has stellar line-up of films. Tony Stark can still be seen on next year's "Captain America: Civil War," and is believed to appear in the "Avengers: Infinity War - Part 1" on 2018 and "Avengers: Infinity War - Part 2" on 2019.
