Marvel's hit Netflix superhero series "Daredevil" has just concluded its first run nearly two months ago with Charlie Cox's character being officially named as the Daredevil but it seems like he won't be the only hero anymore on season 2. A rumor has recently surfaced that the female ninja assassin, Elektra, is going to appear on the show on its sophomore season.

According to IGN, two footages were posted via Twitter which reportedly shows Shiva Kalaiselvan and Louisa Mignone's ("Wish You Were Here") respective auditions for the part of Elektra. Even though the video claims the actresses were auditioning for a character named Elise, it is speculated to be for Elektra, who is the love interest of Daredevil in the comics.

The first scene of the video allegedly features the character they portray with a criminal victim while the last scene was with Matt Murdock in his college years. Elektra, as per Crave Online's theory, is believed to be the "Greek girl" Matt and Foggy mentioned during the first ten episodes of the show's first run.

Elektra was created by Frank Miller in 1981 as a new foil for Daredevil. The ninja assassin has become one of Marvel's most popular female characters who had a number of solo comic book series and miniseries, and had been adapted to the big screen.

It was noted before that Jennifer Garner portrayed the character of Elektra in the 2003 movie adaptation of Daredevil. Her character was once again adapted in separate titular film two years after which unfortunately became a critical and box office disappointment.

Meanwhile, the arrival of Elektra might still be unofficial today but it is already exciting the fans for the upcoming second season of the Netflix series. Even Charlie Cox himself also admitted earlier via Empire Magazine, that he wants Elektra to show up as well on Daredevil's next run; and it looks like Cox and the show's avid fans and viewers will not be disappointed at all.

The second season of "Daredevil" is expected to start filming this summer for a 2016 premiere on Netflix.
