Motorola has finally decided to break the silence regarding the much awaited software update for their Droid Turbo Verizon smart phone. Instead of releasing an Android 5.0 Lollipop update for the Droid Turbo, Motorola had opted to release a system update which fixes the current bugs and issues that the smart phone is suffering from. However, Motorola need not worry that their handset would no longer be receiving a Lollipop update; the company had just simply skipped the 5.0 and would be focusing on the 5.1 update.

According to a report made by Autoomobile, Motorola had skipped the 5.0 Lollipop update. Instead of focusing on the latest Android update, the company had resorted to release an update with the name 21.44.12. This update's main objective is to fix the issues brought by the VoLTE bug to the Droid Turbo handset.

It would seem that the Android 5.1 Lollipop update is already in the works for Motorola Droid Turbo users. According to Verizon's device test engineer Jose Arturo, "the Android 5.1 Lollipop update for Droid Turbo will be seeded in mid-June". The device will be updated from Android 4.4 KitKat to Android 5.1 Lollipop directly.  The delay is supposedly caused by Verizon's nationwide HD Voice service. Motorola had aimed to accomplish the update without compromising the voice quality.

The company is currently polishing the software update to prevent any unfavorable issues. The update is now in its testing phase. Verizon is said to be verifying whether the update can handle all the smart phone's abilities, with a special concern to the VoLTE aspect.

The software update aims to improve the call quality of the Motorola Droid Turbo. Also, since many are interested in LTE technology, the update is said to improve its LTE support as well. This would be an eye candy especially for those carriers supporting LTE.

The Motorola Droid Turbo, with its outstanding specs is surely a smart phone of quality. And fans who might be waiting for the Android Lollipop update, might need not wait long. Motorola is on the way to releasing the update mid-June of this year.
