Reese Witherspoon to Produce and Take the Lead Role of the Live-Action Film 'Tink'
Disney is really on the go on releasing live-action movies. The latest news is about the 'Pete Pan' spin-off "Tink," which will be produced by the award-winning actress Reese Witherspoon. She will also play the lead role, and the film will be under her banner Pacific Standard.
'Tink' has been a project of Disney for years and in 2010 Elizabeth Banks was attached to play the lead as the naughty cute little fairy. But years passed and it was like forgotten, because Disney focused on releasing other live-action films like 'Cinderella,' 'Maleficent' and many more in the pipeline.
Now that 'Tink' has resurfaced and Disney hired Reese Witherspoon, Elizabeth Banks though is not involved anymore in the said project. Victoria Strouse, the co-writer of Pixar's 'Finding Dory' will pen the script, but no director yet is announced.
Witherspoon says her goal is to 'develop more female-driven projects,' which is proven as she already produced hit films like 'Gone Girl' and 'Wild.' Now, her latest venture is 'Tink.'
Unlike 'Maleficent' and 'Cinderella' that spent $180 million and $95 million respectively, 'Tink' is having a mid-range budget according to reports.
Witherspoon taking the seat of being a female filmmaker opens up to a whole new level in the movie industry.Disney projects have proven to be successful all throughout its history, both in creating cartoon and live-action films. This time around Disney is making a wise move to venture on live-action movies, after all the live-action movie 'Cinderella' turned out good.
Reese Witherspoon's latest movie 'Hot Pursuit' is now on theaters with co-star Sofia Vergara. She has also signed a new science-fiction project 'Second Life,' and will be reuniting with Alexander Payne on 'Downsizing.' She is also slated to appear in the movie 'Pale Blue Dot.'
But thinking about the role, does Reese fit being Tinkerbell? She's already 39 and obviously not a teeny bopper cutesy lady anymore. The movie is on its early stage right now so its hard to conclude what's gonna happen. Well, maybe Tinkerbell will come out as a mature one, so Reese might be a good lead.
