Gotham Season 2 to Feature Batman Universe's Iconic Villains The Joker and Mr. Freeze

Gotham sophomore's season will feature iconic villains, which already says much given the amount "iconic" characters the first season of Batman's prologue offer. Fox already confirmed two popular Batman / Bruce Wayne villains, The Joker and Mr. Freeze to be part of the show in Season Two.

The protagonist of the show is James Gordon who was tasked on investigating the murders of Bruce Wayne's parents who found himself entangled with the crime families of Gotham City, as well as with other nefarious characters.

It is worth remembering that Bruno Heller, the series' showrunner, stated that they are working on The Joker's origin story. It was already known that The Joker will not have a cliffhanger cameo in Gotham's first season finale. Instead, Bruno Heller stated in the ComicBook.com interview that the beginning of Season Two will be focused on the The Clown Prince of Crime.

Heller also added that The Joker character in Season Two of Gotham will be "pre-embryonic", meaning, there will be no crime sprees and questionable and violent sense of humor coming from The Joker.

Dr. Victor Fries, more popularly known as Mr. Freeze, is a cryogenic scientist who went mad after attempting to save his wife from a terminal illness. Instead, he was involved in an accident that limits him to a cryogenic suit just to stay alive. Gotham Season Two will also feature more Edward Nygma's downward spiral into The Riddler, as well as introducing The Madhatter and Clayface.

Gotham is a crime / drama series based on the characters of the Batman franchise of DC Comics. The TV show was developed by Bruno Heller and premiered on Fox on September 22, 2014 and concluded on May 4, 2015. The second season series was renewed on January 17, 2015. Season One's plot focused on the Don Carmine Falcone and Season Two should focus on the iconic characters, The Joker and Mr. Freeze.
