The zombie drama from the creators of "Veronica Mars" will return next TV season after The CW has officially renewed "iZombie" for another round on Wednesday. Episode order number and scheduling is still to be determined though.

The network has greenlighted a second-season renewal to the comics adaptation "iZombie", the procedural drama starring Rose McIver. McIver plays the role of Olivia "Liv" Moore, an over achieving medical student-turned-zombie who help solve cases of murder by inherited memories of a consumed human brain.

The 10-episode show has premiered mid-season, specifically this March, with a total 2.3 million viewers. While not a ratings powerhouse unlike the new comic hit "The Flash", "iZombie Season 1" has done a decent job with its steady ratings and average viewers of 1.9 million. The show ranks second among the networks new shows this season.

However, the network is yet to announce the premiere date and episode count of the sophomore season.

Based on the characters of Chris Roberson and Michael Allred, "iZombie" hails from Bonanza Production in association with Spondoolie Productions and Warner Bros. Television -a co-owner of The CW along with CBS. It is published by DC Entertainment Vertigo imprint and developed by Rob Thomas ("Veronica Mars", "Party Down", "Cupid") and Diane Ruggiero-Wright ("Veronica Mars", "The Ex List", "That's Life"). Danielle Stoksyk and Dan Etheridge (The Carrie Diaries) executive produce the show together with Thomas and Ruggiero-Wright.

The series now joins fellow renewed CW scripted TV shows "The Flash", "Reign", "Supernatural","Beauty and the Beast", "Master of Illusions", "The Vampire Diaries", "Jane The Virgin", 'The 100", and "The Originals".

Even though the renewal of the show has come at an unexpected time, at least it gives hope to the "iZombie" fans that the events in the finale episode, which will wrap up this coming May 19, will be continued next season.

 "iZombie" airs Tuesdays at 9PM on The CW.
