The Android 5.1.1 update is here.

The latest Android build is released for the Nexus Player, though. When it comes out for phones, however, is still an open question.

The latest update for the Asus-made Android TV set-top box can be downloaded on the Android Open Source Project or via an over-the-air update.

It's still to be taken as a good sign, though, since it means it should rollout on phones pretty soon since it does address a number of bugs. This means that by the time Nexus devices such as the Nexus 9 and Nexus 7, which still haven't received the Android 5.1 update, it is possible that the one-month-old Android OS's problems will be resolved quickly.

New features are not expected of the Android 5.1.1, although it is expected to introduce a number of fixes, with the major one addressing the Nexus 5's and the Nexus 6's camera launch issues.

Below are some of the issues that the new issues that the new build is meant to address.

Mostly encountered by Nexus 5 and Nexus 7 owners, app crash due to memory problems is finally going to be truly resolved. At least Google believed the issue should be addressed, despite them saying the issue was resolved back in December 2014.

Various camera issues, where user's phones would hang if apps need to use the camera, are to be solved by the Android 5.1.1 update as well. Some reported that disabling the facial recognition feature on their phone halted the issue.

Android 5.1 users have also reported random device restart even if there is sufficient battery power. This happens no matter what they may have been doing, from browsing the internet to simply taking  shot.

Wi-Fi credentials and settings not being retained, and an extremely shorter battery life (from 20 hours down to nine), are going to be resolved by the latest build as well.

When it does become available soon, the Android 5.1.1 is going to be appreciated by many affected users if it finally does the job this time around.
