Fifty Shades of Grey is getting an unrated version- news that should send tingles up the spine of any die-hard Fifty Shades fan. Via The Hollywood Gossip, we know that this newer, hotter version of Fifty Shades will release on May 1 for digital formats, and then will be available as a physical disc on May 8. Here's what the unrated version offers: several new scenes, footage that's far more explicit than the original cut, and a new ending of the film.

According to Segment Next, original Fifty Shades author E.L. James has been talking up the unrated edition, saying "I knew from the start that it would be a passionate love story. I always described it as a 'love story with a kink.'" It's not that surprising, then, that we're getting plenty more kink in the unrated edition.

The alternate ending is sure to be a hit with Fifty Shades' army of worldwide fans. In the original film, Christian Grey (Jamie Dornan) gets far too rough with Anastasia Steele (Dakota Johnson), and she leaves him, the film ending as their relationship is seemingly torn apart. Don't expect too much difference in terms of the plot (after all, they were adapting the film from a book), but the film's director, Sam Taylor-Johnson, allegedly clashed with James on set over several key dialogue choices in the final scene. That may be what we're getting in that alternate ending.

While many fans hoped the original film might be NC-17 (and so explicit it wouldn't require an unrated version at all), the film was able to get into theaters with a much more reasonable R rating. And according to Metro, it wasn't actually that difficult for the film's producers to secure the R. Metro claims that the final film "passed uncut" with the film censors. However, that might mean we're not getting as much sex in the new uncut version as previously thought.

Be sure to check out Fifty Shades of Grey when it's released- May 1 for digital formats, and May 8 for Blu-ray and DVD.
