Fresh alien forms, and a seductive Michael Fassbender who will reprise his role as the humanoid android David, are but two of the things in store for audiences in "Prometheus 2."

With director Ridley Scott at the helm, expect a sci-fi movie that'll make movie watchers sit up and take notice. It's not a remote possibility that viewers will once again have the opportunity to ponder on the origins of man, while being awed by cinematic elements, the way "Prometheus" did. As actor-director-writer James Franco noted in an article he wrote in mid-2012, Prometheus has led people to mull over and "define the qualities that make us human" against alien forms.

The script for the reboot underwent several changes. The film's focus will be on planet Earth and those who want to see it destroyed. "Prometheus" will reportedly have a bigger cast than its predecessor, but it's still 38-year-old Michael Fassbender of "X-Men: First Class" & "X-Men: Days of Future Past" fame who draws much attention.

It's pretty clear that Fassbender stands by his statement that he likes roles that don't spell out everything for the viewers, but which can be presented in a "provocative" way. Chances are, Ridley, whom Fassbender considers meticulous but amazing and fun to work with, took that into consideration. The director had expressed in interviews that he's veering away from alien species he had used in his past films.

Noomi Rapace, noted for her portrayal of Lisbeth Salander in "The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo" will once again play archaeologist Elizabeth Shaw in "Prometheus 2." "Prometheus" fans are eager to see how the story takes off form the elements left dangling from the previous movie, including a worn out/damaged David heading towards the home world of alien forms called the Engineers, and an alien creature coming out of a chest.

Also of interest to movie fans are a few plot details uncovered during interviews, particularly how David will emerge as a new character "once his head goes back on." Something sinister may be afoot.

"Prometheus 2" is slated for theatrical release during the summer 2016.
