For Avengers: Infinity War, one of the biggest conundrums is how to fit an ever-increasing cast of characters into a single crossover movie (and if the early reviews are any indication, Avengers: Age of Ultron might suffer just a little bit from the same problem).

According to the latest rumors, Marvel has figured out to fit the endless superheroes of Phase Three into a single film, and this is by Avengers: Infinity War Part 1. It may turn out that the opening of the film is a crossover between two other Marvel franchises, Guardians of the Galaxy and Doctor Strange. Benedict Cumberbatch, who was cast as Marvel's Sorcerer Supreme last year, will star in the film, with Baron Mordo as the most likely villain (although Baron Mordo has yet to be cast). According to director Scott Derrickson, Doctor Strange has already begun location scouting and will likely begin shooting very soon, so the casting will need to be firmed up in the next few weeks.

As well, it's been confirmed that Guardians of the Galaxy 2, starring Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Bradley Cooper, Vin Diesel and Dave Bautista, will film in February 2016. Director James Gunn has confirmed that new Guardians will join the team in the second film, with Mantis and Adam Warlock the two most likely (and most rumored) candidates. Nebula, played by Karen Gillain, will also be returning in a much larger villain role.

However, it's not 100% likely that this rumor might be true. For one thing, James Gunn has publicly distanced himself and his Guardians of the Galaxy franchise from the Avengers series, saying the following in Screen Rant:

"Whether or not at some point, some Guardians and some Avengers meet up and meet somewhere in the world, whether it's two years from now, three years from now, four years from now, fifteen years from now...I'm not going to say. But 'Guardians of the Galaxy' does not exist as a prequel to 'Avengers 3' and '4.' They have their own thing that they're involved in. They have their own mythos that they're involved in. They have their own stories that are equally important."

Avengers: Infinity War- Part 1 will premiere on May 4, 2018.
