Salem season two premiered on a gruesome note with Mary and Mercy leading the slaughter of the elder witches and the appearance of a potential new enemy in the form of Countess Palatine Ingrid von Marburg. Fans should prepare themselves for a new series packed with more troubles against Mary while she tries to finish the Grand Rite.

The main witch, Mary Sibley, played by Janet Montgomery, has got a lot on her plate this season 2 of Salem. For the second episode, John Alden (Shane West) comes back to Salem with every intention of taking Mary down but the actor was not sure if Alden could go through with it especially if (or when) he finds out that he has a son with her.

However, Alden is going to be the least of Mary's worries when she encounters the forever young and powerful Countess Marburg (Lucy Lawless).  The actress teased in an interview that this season will not be shy about dishing out terror and she added that while she lived a life enjoy bloody vampire stories, she did a scene that "shocked the hell out of her". If someone has gone all their life liking horror stories, that is a bone-chilling statement for a viewer to hear.

But, Mary's problems do not end with the Countess and her former flame. Montgomery revealed in an interview that in new season will involve a character returning, possibly back from the dead since just one character left the show alive. Since this is a show about witches and dark rituals, it is well within the show's capability to resurrect someone. Who this someone is will be revealed in future episodes, surely, but for now, fans will just have to hold their breath for what is yet to come.

Salem season 2 episode 2 entitled, "Blood Kiss", will be in television screens on April 12.
