Rockstar Games confirms the release date set for the latest sequel of the Red Dead series, Red Dead Redemption 2, after much false rumours about its development. Latest reveals also suggests that the setting of the game is in Japan, leaving the fans to wonder if it would still have that Old Western feel the Red Dead series is known for.

After nearly five years since the release of Red Dead Redemption in 2010, not much have been confirmed regarding its sequel, except that Rockstar is not yet finished with the Red Dead franchise, as they have confirmed back in 2012, suggesting that there would definitely be a sequel.

Recently, a senior developer in Rockstar named Feinstein confirmed that they have begun working on the sequel of Red Dead Redemption. Of course, the sequel is not expected to be actually called Red Dead Redemption 2 but a concrete name has not yet been established.

Cyberland reports that Rockstar allegedly set the release date of Red Dead Redemption 2 to October 2016 if the game development goes smoothly.

"My source says that Rockstar is currently finalizing their plans for GTAV and they are going to focus on RDR2 now. Rockstar expects the game to be out by October next year as long as the devs doesn't hit any road blocks during development," Cyberland revealed.

Red Dead Redemption's storyline revolves around a cowboy-like character named John Marston. However, in Red Dead Redemption 2, the storyline is believed to revolve around a ronin named Yojimbo with the setting in Japan.

Yojimbo Is a 1961 Japanese film directed by Akira Kurosawa about a master-less samurai, a ronin. The film inspired the character in Red Dead Redemption 2. Although, Yojimbo's storyline is similar to John Marston's, deviating from the Old Western setting is a huge leap for Rockstar to make, one that presents an uncertain outcome.
