Everyone just can't wait to get their new lollipop these days.

With Android 5.1 officially rolling out with the latest Nexus smartphones and tablets (like the Google Nexus 6 and Nexus 9) as well as with Android One devices, anticipation is high that users could somehow be able to update their devices soon enough.

Reports indicate that the Xperia Z1 will be the first to get the firmware and OS update push in early April 2015, followed by Xperia Z Ultra GPE (Google Play Edition), Xperia Z, Xperia ZR, Xperia ZL, Xperia Z1s, Xperia Z3v, Xperia Z3 Tablet, Xperia Tablet Z and Xperia Z2 Tablet.

As for the equally-awaited Sony Xperia Z4, click here for news about it. But right now, it is expected to have the same Android 5.1 Lollipop OS as well.

A number of new features are seen on the new devices that come shipped with Android 5.1. Device Protection will provide security to users, where it will keep the device locked (if security methods such as PIN code or pattern are on) even after a factory reset unless the Google password used to configure it initially is entered.

HD Audio is also supported on the newest Lollipop, and can be utilized as long as compatible devices are used and a strong enough signal is present.

The priority mode, a feature in 5.0 that allows users to set which notifications can use audible sounds, can be set to turn off automatically when the alarm goes off (as this mode is often used when users are asleep). It does not have to be manually turned off any more.

In Android 5.1, users can drag down the top of the screen to open the quick settings even if the phone is locked by a PIN code thereby allowing them to access the flashlight, bluetooth, WiFi, and other functions quickly.

Speaking of WiFi, the newest Android OS will be able to remember which connection signals are strong and will prioritize those connections when looking for one.

Android 5.1 users will be able to enjoy easier device sharing, wider language support, and longer battery life as well.
