Ready to meet your new team of Ghostbusters? Well, Sony and director Paul Feig have just announced which four actresses will be strapping on proton packs and bustin' ghosts in the upcoming sequel to the Bill Murray classic. Here's the official list (via The Hollywood Reporter):

Melissa McCarthy

Kristen Wiig

Leslie Jones

Kate McKinnon

McCarthy and Wiig are both best known for the film "Bridesmaids," which was also directed by Feig. Jones and McKinnon, meanwhile, are current cast members on "Saturday Night Live." According to The Hollywood Reporter, only McCarthy is officially signed on to the film, while the other three actresses are stil in negotiations.

However, it's extremely likely that they'll be locked in soon, for one important reason: Feig recently tweeted a picture of all four actresses in a single image. Naturally, he wouldn't be doing that if he wasn't 100% sure all four women would be in the film- it would be pretty embarassing if he tweeted that to all his followers, and then a week later one (or more) of them dropped out.

So it's safe to say that McCarthy, Wiig, Jones and McKinnon are our new "Ghostbusters."

Recently, Feig spoke on what his plans are for the new "Ghostbusters," and explained that the film won't be bogged down with references to the old films, but will still reference them in small ways. He also said that the third film will stay away from parodying the first two.

"We're not recreating the old movie but we want to do just enough fun nods that the fans will go, 'Oh, okay, they're acknowledging that the other movie existed,'" explained Feig.

And on the subject of parodies: "I like to watch parodies, but I don't want to do them because they're too referential. Comedy that's too referential has such a short shelf life, whereas comedy that's based around characters will be relatable 2000 years from now because people won't change that much."

The film will likely film in New York City this summer- hopefully that means we'll be able to see some photos of the new "Ghostbusters" crew in full costumed regalia before the end of the year. Maybe even a trailer... if we're lucky.
