The Gothic horror drama hit series on Showtime, 'Penny Dreadful', is gearing up to return on the small screens with its much awaited all-new season 2 this April. Here's a roundup of the latest spoilers to give the fans a quick sneak peek of what to expect next.   

Back in the first season, main characters can be seen fighting evil forces while they search for the daughter of Sir Malcolm, Mina (Olivia Llewellyn).

Some reports say that despite her short appearance in the previous season, Helen McCrory's Evelyn Poole (Madame Kali) will be featured as the "dark witch' and will evolve as the main antagonist in the new season. And what's more is she will be joined by her powerful daughter, Hecate, played by Sarah Greene.

The mother and daughter tandem is claimed to the "proper human villains" who believe they're doing the right thing

Official spoilers for 'Penny Dreadful' season 2 premiere has just been released reading, "The new season will see Vanessa (Eva Green) and Ethan (Josh Hartnett) forming a deeper bond as the group including Sir Malcolm (Timothy Dalton), Dr. Frankenstein (Harry Treadaway), and Sembene (Danny Sapani), unite to banish the evil forces that threaten to destroy them. Meanwhile, Dorian Grey (Reeve Carney), the Creature (Rory Kinnear) and Brona (Billie Piper) are all waging battles of their own."

On January 7, a short trailer titled 'A Curse And a Blessing' was released that showed bloodshed on a wooden floor in the shape of a red lobster as horrifying hand reaches out of a bath tub.   

Written by John Logan, this gothic period drama brings back life to horror mythical characters of Frankenstein, Dracula and Dorian Grey.  

Logan teased the season 2 plot revealing, "This season, we embrace witchcraft. So I created the character that Helen McCrory plays, Evelyn Pole. We introduced her last season and this season, she becomes the antagonist for not only Vanessa but all the characters."  

'Penny Dreadful' returns with its season 2 premiere on April 26, Sunday, at 10PM ET/PT on Showtime.
