If you're following the upcoming season of "Hannibal," you may have heard the name "Chiyo" thrown aronud. But you might not know who this mysterious Chiyo is- probably because that name's never been used in either the "Hannibal" TV show, film or book series.

Enstars explains just who Chiyo is- it seems that, while actress Tao Okamoto was originally rumored to play the classic "Hannibal" character Lady Murasaki, she'll be playing the original character Chiyo. But rest assured, Chiyo will still be similar to Lady Murasaki, only she'll be "Hannibal's" own twist on the character.

Collider has a quote from series creator Bryan Fuller about the character, as well.

"We were very excited when she was interested in the role of Lady Murasaki, but Lady Murasaki is an older woman. It's the same story, but the character is Chiyo, who is also from the literature. She's Lady Murasaki's attendant. So, we're expanding that character and her history with Hannibal. There were a lot of things that we needed the character to do, story wise, that didn't make sense for Lady Murasaki to do. With Chiyo, we had a greater rein. I'm very excited to work with her."

As well, TV Guide spoke to Fuller, and he explained a little more about just how they'll be adapting a Lady Murasaki-like character for the series- only here, he's still referring to the character as Lady Murasaki.

"The books won't necessarily be in sequential order. We'll be hitting elements of each of them except Silence of the Lambs in the next season. My hope is that not only do we have a completely different Hannibal Lecter story in Season 3, but we will meet some of those great characters like Francis Dolarhyde and  Lady Murasaki and weave them into the world in a unique way."
