When Marvel Studios announced their superhero film lineup for the next few years on Tuesday, the news that generated a lot of buzz was the company's first female solo film. Buzzfeed reported that "Captain Marvel" is said to debut in theaters on July 6, 2018. According to Marvel, the film will feature Carol Danvers, who is known in the comic book universe as "Ms. Marvel."

Studio chief Kevin Feige, however, did not say which actress would be playing the titular role. However, there are a couple of names floating in online media who are allegedly in the running to play the blonde superhero.

According to Fashion & Style, Katee Sackhoff, Yvonne Strahovski are among the two actresses who might play carol Danvers for Marvel. Sackhoff, for one, is geek royalty, as she is known for her feisty character in "Battlestar Galactica." The last time she was seen on television was on the now cancelled A&E series "Longmire," and fans are itching for her to crossover to big-budgeted films. Strahovski, on the other hand, is recognizable as the undercover agent in "Chuck." Playing Carol Danvers requires the actor to have a presence onscreen, and Strahovski, a former model, has not disappoint fan while remaining believable as a CIA agent. It has been believed that her fans are petitioning for her to join the franchise.

On the other hand, there is a possibility that Marvel might do a little bit of tweaking in the storyline just like they did in their earlier films. And the biggest clue lies in that epic party scene that opened the teaser trailer for "Avengers: Age of Ultron" that was released recently. In the video, it was noted that there is a third, unidentified woman sitting in a coach near Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) is seating. It could have not been Maria Hill (Colbie Smulders), who is seated on a long coach and is located beside War Machine (Don Cheadle). However, the unidentified woman sports brunette locks, which is a far cry from the blonde superhero we know of Captain Marvel.
