Jada Pinkett-Smith joins "Magic Mike XXL" with a "male" character; Is Alex Pettyfer in for the sequel or not?

Jada Pinkett-Smith will be joining the cast of "Magic Mike 2," but with a role meant for a male actor. Matthew McConaughey is confirmed to be out, while Alex Pettyfer may possibly not return.

According to KpopStarz, Pinkett-Smith has confirmed that she will be joining Magic Mike 2." The actor shares that the circumstances of her addition to the cast come after Channing Tatum and director Gregory Jacobs allegedly taking a very big risk. In Pinkett-Smith's own words, "There was a character written for a male that they wanted to turn into a female." Pinkett-Smith spoke about the role in her guesting at "The Queen Latifah" show, says KpopStarz.

Though Pinkett-Smith has refused to reveal more detail about her character, Deadline shares that her role will be that of a strip club magnate. KpopStarz says her upcoming character in the sequel to "Magic Mike" will be similar to her role in "Gotham" and Hollywood Reporter confirms that Pinkett-Smith's role will not be showing her dancing.

Aside from Pinkett-Smith, Amber Heard, Elizabeth Banks, Andie MacDowell, and Donald Glover will also be joining the cast, adds Hallels. Matt Bomer, Channing Tatum, Gabriel Iglesias, Kevin Nash, Adam Rodriguez, and Joe Manganiello will all be returning for the movie, though Matthew McConaughey will apparently not be making an appearance.

Moreover, KpopStarz also reports that there might be problems with Alex Pettyfer's return after allegedly having a rift with Tatum. Hollywood Reporter mentioned that Tatum co-wrote the script with Reid Carolin.

Hallels has also shared the plot for the movie sequel, called "Magic Mike XXL," which is going to pick up three years after the end of the first movie. According to the article, the Kings of Tampa also want to quit being strippers but want to have a "one last blow-out performance in Myrtle Beach, and with legendary headliner Magic Mike sharing the spotlight with them." The article continues that the characters will be meeting new people along the way to their destination and will learn new moves for their farewell gig.
