Sandra Bullock tops 2014 list for highest paid Hollywood actress; Angelie Jolie down to fifth spot from 2013 list

When it comes to earnings, Hollywood actresses still make less money compared to their male counterparts. For the period covered in this list, the top 10 Hollywood actors ranked in a combined $419 million as compared to only $226 million for the women.

Thanks to her movie "Gravity," Sandra Bullock emerged as 2014's highest paid actress. She only ranked 7th in last year's list topped by Angelina Jolie, who in turn drops to fifth this year tied with Cameron Diaz. Absent from this year's list are Kirsten Stewart and Emma Stone.

To come up with its list, Forbes talked with agents, producers, lawyers, and others knowledgeable in the field. The earnings estimates in the 2014 list include entertainment-related income for the period June 2013 to June 2014. Taxes, agent fees, and other celebrity-related costs are not deducted from the amount. Here now are Forbes Top 5 Highest Paid Actresses for 2014.

1. Sandra Bullock - $51 million

While her performance in "Gravity" did not earn her an Oscar award Best Actress, it nevertheless earned Sandra Bullock the fame of being 2014's highest paid Hollywood actress. She was only 7th in the list last year with $14 million but her performance in the Alfonso Cuaron movie gave her almost three times of what she earned last year. "Gravity" was one of the highest grossing movies of 2013 grossing $716 million worldwide and $51 million for Sandra Bullock.

2. Jennifer Lawrence - $34 million

Ranking 12th overall on the Forbes Celebrity 100 list, Jennifer Lawrence earned $34 million during the period of the list. Since June 2013, she has appeared in movies such as "X-Men : Days of Future Past", "American Hustle", and the second installment of "The Hunger Games", "Catching Fire". She is likely to make a lot more money in the future "The Hunger Games" movies.

3. Jennifer Aniston - $31 million

As of late, Jennifer Aniston has set her sights on low-budget comedies such as 'We're The Millers' and 'Horrible Bosses.' She derives most of her earnings from the hit-sitcom, "Friends," as well as from endorsing products like Aveeno. She is due to appear in "Horrible Bosses 2" which is slated for a November premiere.

4. Gwyneth Paltrow - $19 million

Gwyneth Paltrow got most of her earnings from her role in "Iron Man" as well as from endorsements with Max Factor and Hugo Boss jacking up her total earnings to $19 million. However, Paltrow's earnings pale in comparison with her "Iron Man" co-star Robert Downey, Jr. who is the highest paid actor of this year.

5. Angelina Jolie/Cameron Diaz - $18 million
