The two month-old LG G Watch had just became one of the most affordable smartwatches in the market. Multiple reports said that Google Play Store is offering LG G Watch at $50 off its current retail price. The LG G Watch will be available on Google Play Store and Best Buy at a sale price of $179 for a limited time only, GSM Arena reported.

Several tech websites and blogs deduced that the price reduction is the effect of the Apple Watch announcement, which happened last week. Engadget calls the LG G slash price offering a "special fall savings" treat. According to TechRadar, Apple's smartwatch will not be making its debut in the market until 2015, and  will cost about $349 and above.

The Apple Watch is not the LG G Watch's only competition. The two month-old Android smartwatch is already losing appeal to its successor, the LG G Watch R. It will also be competing with a host of other Android smartwatches, including the highly-anticipated Moto 360. It has been suggested by tech sites that the sale price may stick around well after its promo duration. According to Engadget, the low price may stay well beyond the September 23 deadline to help sell more units. TechRadar notes that Android Wear watches have received mixed reviews so far that it is expecting that the wearables market would be heating up well through next year. The LG G Watch's main Android Wear competitor will be the Moto 360, which has received largely positive reviews.

The discounted price of the LG G Watch is also being offered by Verizon Wireless at a discounted price at $179.99. It is available in Black Titan and White Gold. Users with compatible Android devices may get their LG G Watch for $50 less until September 23
