"Rick and Morty" has been one of the biggest hits on Adult Swim in a long time. And with that in mind, the network has renewed the series for a second season.

KpopStarz has the news, as well as a potential date when we might see the new season: Winter of 2015. That's a long while from now, but remember that animation usually takes far longer to produce than a show that's shot in live action (except for "South Park," but that one doesn't count.)

They also report that creator Dan Harmon is already working on the next season, claiming that it's "in the works."

As well, Justin Roiland (who plays the sociopathic mad scientist, Rick) spoke to Hitfix about the upcoming second season:

"Last year it was a weird panel because we were pitching it. We were, like, in this small room in the convention floor. It felt like we were pitching the show to executives in a big room of them. I was like, "It's good, I promise it's good!" This year we're going into a room where people presumably all have seen every episode or a significant number of them. When I said we were in a bubble, I mean production-wise. We're working our asses off for Season 2. You kind of are in a bubble in regards to that, what we're about to maybe, if you're not wrong, we get out there and there's just crickets."

iDigital Times also has an interesting piece on "Rick and Morty"- apparently, an episode of Season Two will be based entirely around the "Star Trek: The Next Generation" episode, "The Inner Light." So if you're planning on watching "Rick and Morty" next year, maybe brush up on your "Star Trek" just a little bit- you don't want to be missing any references.

Check out a rough clip of the episode below.
