There have been new reports that suggested that the release date of Google's Nexus X might be pushed back to the end of Q4 of this year. It has been said that the Google was eyeing for an October release. Although Google themselves have yet to officially announce when the smartphone will be released, based on the previous Nexus model release dates, the rumored timeframe seem to coincide with new reports that Nexus X would be hitting the shelves before the year ends.

On the other hand, one could view the delay as Google's attempt to avoid any snags with the Nexus brand once Nexus X has been released. It has been believed that Google was forced to rename the smartphone from Nexus 6 to Nexus X because the name "Nexus" is said to be referenced without authorization from Phillip K. Davis's novel, "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?". The book, which was later adapted into the popular cult film "Blade Runner," focuses on a story about an Android who rans away from his human master while being pursued by a bounty hunter, played by Harrison Ford. At that time, although the "Nexus" name is not copyrighted by Davis' family, Daily Mail said, the author's daughter Issa Hackett said they would pursue legal action against Google if they do not engage them in a dialogue over the name.

Blogger Eldar Murtazin published a blog post on the Information website stating that Google might not be looking into carrying out an engagement with the family, if such plans were did set, as it is looking to phase out their current Nexus brand to transition to a new and better program called Android Silver. Moreover, TechDefault cited rumors that the Nexus X's specs would featyre a 5.2-inch display with a resolution of 1440x2560 pixels. Other specs and features allegedly include a 13MP rear camera and 2.1MP front camera with "Android L" (Lollipop) OS, which was recently revealed in the annual I/O developer conference. International Business Times also said that the Nexus X is said to feature a 64-bit processor to compete with Apple's new smartphone, which will also be released in Q4 of this year. Another interesting feature reported in Nexus X is the fingerprint scanner and the IP67-certified dust-proof and water-resistant certification of the device.

There also have been multiple leaks on Fonetime and TK Tech News with regard to how Nexus X fares to other smartphones in terms of performance and processing power. Both of these leaks seem to coincide with each other and is most likely the real thing even though Google hasn't commented or confirmed the leaks.
