‘Ninjago’ slated to hit theaters in September 2016; 'The Lego Movie' sequel delayed to 2017 release

To bank on the success of "The Lego Movie," "Ninjago," a very popular line of building sets and microcosmic characters that are based on ninjas, will be adapted into a live-action movie and is expected to storm theaters on September 23, 2016.

As reported by Reuters, the announcement was made by Dan Fellman, President, Domestic Distribution, and Veronika Kwan Vandenberg, President, International Distribution of Warner Bros. Pictures.

The decision to produce and release the sequel was inspired by the staggering cinematic accomplishment of the "The Lego Movie" and the growing demand from collectors to see their favorite characters on big screen.

Vanderberg has stated that she is pretty confident that this latest release will once again have fans all over the globe will storm the cinemas on the day of its showing.

 "As proven by the worldwide popularity of "The LEGO Movie," we know that the LEGO characters have a global fan base. "Ninjago" is sure to delight international audiences of all ages with its own blend of action, adventure and humor," Vandenberg said.

Directors Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, who have brought us "The Lego Movie" and "21 Jump Street," will be joined by producers Dan Lin and Roy Lee in the "Ninjango" movie. Deadline reported that the "Ninjango" film will be directed by "Tron: Uprising"'s Charlie Bean. Screenrant said that "The Lego Movie" sequel might initially disappoint fans if Bryan Shukoff and Kevin Chesley were listed as screenwriters instead of Hageman.
